Securities Lawyers

Securities lawyers deal with the legal rights of investors and the enforcement of those rights or they may defend publicly traded companies from regulatory actions and in fraud lawsuits.

The Securities laws govern the information a publicly-traded company must make available to the public as well as the rules regarding honesty and fair dealing in the investment world. Securities lawyers can advise you with respect to your suspicions of fraud, market manipulation, insider trading, or other wrongdoing, and can seek to recover your money if you were a victim of wrongdoing. They can also explain to you a broker contract before you sign. Securities lawyers can also represent parties in stockbroker misconduct cases. Some Securities lawyers handle securities class actions.  A class action lawsuit is a claim against a company or individuals who have defrauded many investors in a similar way. Other class actions involve claims against companies for false SEC filings or for misleading investors.
